Bold Designs, Sustainable Practices
Every piece from Awk.ward SISTERS begins with a hand-drawn design. The creative process is deeply personal, with each illustration crafted to tell a story—whether it's a cheeky historical twist or a playful take on traditional imagery, we love to mix fact with fiction (in case you wondered if Nefertiti really had a secret fling with Cleopatra, if Queen Elizabeth ever posed like Rose from the Titanic or if there were three Eves instead of one).
So this means that every symbol/object in our drawings comes with its quirky story, and if you follow us on social media, we will we will drop a few nuggets of information like confetti at a party.
These designs are then transferred to organic cotton t-shirts and recycled paper prints, ensuring that every product is eco-friendly from start to finish.
The paper on our prints comes from uncoated stock* made from 100% genuine de-inked post consumer waste and FSC® certified, reducing deforestation and waste.
Made in an industry leading mill to strict ISO 14001 standards for environmental management, our is processed chlorine free (PCF) significantly reducing water contamination from processing.

OUR PAPER…
Our designs aren’t just eye-candy! They're unisex, made from 100% certified organic cotton, meaning that they use less water and no harmful chemicals, and we're incredibly proud of the final product.
They are so comfy and soft you'll never want to take them off, seriously…we might need an intervention at this point. Being based in Leamington Spa, we also source locally whenever possible, not only to support local commerce but also to decrease the carbon footprint.
OUR T-SHIRTS…
Use water-based pigment inks that are primarily made of water. These inks are eco-friendlier compared to other inks and dyes, as they contain natural pigments and environmentally-friendly additives with little to no VOC emissions.
A great advantage of this high-end ink is that it gets absorbed into the fabric, rather than sitting on top like plastic-based inks. This gives our t-shirts a much softer, breathable, and durable finish.
OUR INKS…
Our mailing bags are compostable, made from a blend of cornstarch and biopolymers. Each mailer can be thrown in the food bin and it will then dissolve into nutrient-rich compost, giving new life to the soil.
The envelopes and tubes used to mail our illustrations are FSC Certified, Plastic Free, Eco Inks, Zero C02, Recycled, Decomposable and the protective sleeves used in our A4 illustrations are made from annually renewable PLA derived from vegetable starches (potato, sugar beet etc.) and are fully biodegradable and compostable.
